Background webcast presentation

When presenting during a webcast presentation and your audience can see the background of where you are presenting from, you should consider what you want them to see. Some of the webcast / video conference call applications have the option that you can choose a background and for other applications this is not possible and your background is whatever the camera will see.

A background can say something about you. For example is the background in the room you are presenting from a big mess? This will be shown and will give an impression of you. Do you have a very expensive clock or art showing in the background? Is that something that you want your audience to see? When using a funny tropical island background is that really the image that you want to bring across during your presentation?

A totally black background may potentially look somewhat depressing. A background where there is movement (pets, kids, etc.) to see, may be very distracting. Think about the background to ensure it is aligned with your presentation message and what image you want to communicate.
