Make reference to historical events during your presentation

You could increase the importance of your presentation by making reference to certain historical events. Use certain historical events that are around the same date and lustrums or decennia’s ago combined with nice pictures, to put the topic of your presentation in a better more meaningful perspective.

For example when you need to give a presentation about promotions of colleagues you could make reference to the first men on the moon that occurred 50 years ago. For example you can say:

On 20 July 1969, that is just over 50 years ago, Neil Armstrong put his left foot on the moon and famously declared, “That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”  In this spirit we can say about your promotion: “That’s one small change in your e-mail signature, but one giant leap in your career”. Congratulations!

Adding reference to a historic moment in a creative manner could increase the perceived quality of your presentation.
