Giving a speech is a special way of giving a short presentation. If you only have 5 minutes to give your speech it doesn’t mean that you can’t make a big impact in 5 minutes. On the contrary, you can make a big impact by giving a 5 minutes speech.
The preparation time for 5 five minute speech versus a 20 minute presentation is not necessarily 25%. It may actually take substantially more time to prepare as you need to carefully assess what you want to say but also important what you do not want to say. You really need to focus your presentation on some core important topics and still using the right structure to be easy to be followed by your audience.
