Sometimes you see that a presenter already fast skips forward to a slide later in the presentation to explain something and then go back to the slide where he / she was. Don’t do this if you are presenting.
If you have to do this it is evidence that you didn’t prepare enough for the presentation. If you only realize that during your presentation you don’t have the order of your slides correct, you will appear to be unprepared. Also you make your audience dizzy when you skip through a lot of slides and unconsciously you make them think that these slides are less important. So why would they listen again to you when you go back to these slides? Furthermore you loose the surprise effect of showing something new and build up your story as they have seen what is next in detail.
Therefore avoid having to skip to a slide later in your presentation and move back afterwards. If it is important to mention what is on this slide earlier than change the order of the slides. You should do this before you start your presentation. Have a look at the book that is part of the Public Speaking Kit for more practical detailed tips in tricks for your next presentation.
