Don’t live in a bubble before your presentation, stay connected

It is possible that you spend a lot of time to prepare and practice for your next presentation and you fully concentrate on this and dedicate a lot of time to this important presentation. Avoid living in your own “presentation bubble”, but also make sure that you stay connected with the outside world and what is going on.

If there was an important thing in the news just before your presentation and you are not aware about it you have the chance that your audience is occupied with this and if you don’t know about it they may need to explain to you what is going on. If that happens you look disconnected to the world (or stupid). Your audience may wonder if you don’t know what is going on in the world, why you know what is important in regards to the topic of your presentation. So therefore don’t get stuck in a “presentation bubble”, do check the news to see what is going on and what is important for your audience. See if there is a need to mention something about an important event in the news during your presentation.
