When you need to explain something complex, you may want to divide the topic in small identifiable parts and explain these parts to get to the bigger complex topic. We can use a mathematical formula as an example. It makes sense that you don’t just talk about the outcome of the formula, but for people to understand the concept you first explain the individual parts of the formula, how these parts relate to each other and get to the final outcome.
This also proves the importance of not forgetting to explain every part of the formula. If you forget to explain one part / step, your audience may not understand you anymore and can’t follow how you get to the final outcome. Therefore it is important that you carefully consider all the individual parts of the complex matter that you need to explain. Matters that may be obvious for you (because of your level of knowledge and experience) may not be known by your audience.
