Use plenty of “white space” on your slides

It is tempting to put a lot of words on a presentation slide. But when you talk to a designer they will tell you about the importance of “white space”, meaning empty space around a word / sentence / paragraph.

If you put a lot of words on a slide it will easily start to look cramped, it is not easy for your audience to quickly navigate through your presentation slide while listening to you.

A slide filled with text will become a distraction and therefore will not support your presentation. On the contrary it will distract your audience. Therefore use plenty of white space on your presentation slide. Follow the designer advice. If it doesn’t fit just split the content over multiple slides. Also think about using a handout with more detailed content that you can give to your audience after your presentation.
