The 3 ingredients for a successful presentation

Before starting the official part of your presentation you may want to tell your audience that there are 3 ingredients in the room that will ensure a successful presentation. Tell your audience that these ingredients, in order of importance (from less important to most important), are the following:

1)   Yourself as facilitator / presenter. You can mention your name (and the name of your co-facilitator) if not known by your audience.

2)   A slide deck that you will use during your presentation.

3)   And 3, as the most importance, the audience. You can mention what you expect from your audience during your presentation.

You can use a slide with 3 icons that you show when you briefly talk about each of the 3 ingredients.

Now you can start with the official part of your presentation, using the model as described in the book Public Speaking Excellence. Describing the 3 ingredients for a successful presentation is an original way in which you can get it started and makes your audience aware of the important role that they have to play.
