Manage the expectations from the start of your presentation

It is good to manage the expectations from the start of your presentation. For example you may use a slide with some simple icons that you can use and describe to your audience. The icons may also assist you to ensure that you don’t forget to mention anything. For example you can talk to your audience about:

(1) that you expect people to actively participate in the discussions, (2) don’t use their smartphone or computer during your presentation, (3) ask questions in case something is not clear, (4) share experiences, (4) the matters discussed should remain confidential, (5) timing of breaks during the presentation, (5) expectations to return timely after a break, (6) don’t leave personal belongings unattended in the room, (7) speak loud and clear when there are questions, (8) stay on topic and relevant when raising matters, (9) location of emergency exits, (10) etc.
