Start and end your presentation with a question

A great structure for your presentation is to start and end your presentation with the same question. By means of this you can “sandwich” to good content of your presentation within a probing question that will make your audience think and act.

For example if your presentation is about innovation you can start your presentation by saying “What are you doing to innovate …xyz…?” Enhance this by showing this question on a slide with a large clear bright font and a futuristic relatively dark picture (the text need to pop out from the background picture). You may want to repeat the question a leave a second pause to make people think about it. Then start with the content about your presentation (introduction, content and summary).

At the end of the presentation, you should refer back to the very beginning of the presentation. Repeat the question again to conclude your presentation. “So, what are you going to do to innovate …xyz…?” – pause – “Thank you”. By means of this you took your audience on a journey. From the start with a question that may be difficult for your audience to answer to the end with repeating the same question, but now on a going forward basis. Ensure that your presentation content is inspiring so your audience will act upon the question that you have asked at the end of your presentation.
