Use Google data point to prove the importance of your presentation topic

An interesting way to show the importance of the topic of your presentation is to show the number of search results that google comes up with. You can use this in a very serious manner but also in a way to add a bit of humour to your presentation. The use of google data points is best illustrated with an example.

For example you have a presentation and it is about avoiding certain errors / failures. You can tell the audience that for this it is important to understand how we define a failure. How to find the answer to this? Of course, you google it. Now show a print screen on a slide with the search results of “fail”. Indicate that google found 577 million results (or data points about failure) in zero point fifty-five seconds. Now you can go on with telling your audience that for the purpose of this presentation you won’t go through the details of each of this, but will address the failures as relevant to the organization and provide solutions on how to avoid these failures.

As you can see, using the google data points in this example adds an interesting twist to your presentation. It is showing the importance, it is a bit funny, provides a different perspective and you are showing the audience that you will do them a favour by not going through 577 million results but only focus on what is important for them (and therefore the audience understands that they should pay attention to what you have to say).
