When you need to present to an audience it is important that you have analysed your audience before your presentation. To bring across your messages you need to deliver your presentation in such a manner that it will be understood and resonate with your audience. For this you need to know who your audience is.
Perform a level of research, use prior experiences that you have for the particular audience, hold interviews, use surveys. The better your knowledge about your audience, the better you can tailor your presentation to be impactful for them.
There is no need to tell the audience what they want to hear if that is not the point of your presentation. Your research of the audience will support you in delivering the message in the best possible way.
Your research of the audience shouldn’t stop when you start your presentation. Continue your research by looking into the verbal and non-verbal feedback that you are getting during your presentation. You may want to change your presentation / elaborate on some matters based on the feedback that you are getting from your audience.
Continue to analyse your audience deliver the best possible presentation.
