You may encounter a situation where you have to present in front of a room where your audience is sitting around round tables. This means that when you stand in front of the room not all members will be facing you. Usually they will arrange the chairs to leave an opening towards you, or chairs will be turned around. But you may end up with a situation where people won’t be directly facing you.
How best to present for such a “table setting room”?
You should start your presentation from the “power spot” (see book Public Speaking Excellence for more information) but then you should take advantage from the entire room. You may walk around to the different tables. Face and talk to individual person(s) at a table and walk to the next table. Make sure that you speak very loud and clear as when you walk around the room from table to table you need to make absolutely certain that everyone can continue to hear you.
If you get a question from one person and there are seats available you may actually consider to take a seat at that table for a brief moment. Repeat the question and start answering the question. Continue to speak loud and clear to ensure everyone in the room can hear you. For more tips and tricks about answering question and the best position(s) to present from in a room you can read the book that is part of the Public Speaking Kit.
