What do you have to give to your audience during your presentation?

You may be in a situation where you have been asked to present something to a group of people. Are you then tempted to build your presentation keeping the request from the person(s) who asked you to present the topic in mind?

Obviously it is important to keep the request in mind, but you should also think about what you have to give to your audience in regards to this topic.

Ask yourself the question: “What do I have to give to the audience during this presentation?”. With this in mind, you see that you will put your audience in focus. What will they need to get out of your presentation? What are the benefits? Are there some supporting materials that you need to prepare and share as a hand-out after your presentation? Do you need to present the topic all by yourself or should you ask a co-presenter to also present a (part) of the topic to add even more value towards your audience? Covering the request from the person(s) who asked you to present is important, but when building the presentation and preparing for it you need to make sure that you have something important and valuable to give to your audience.
