You want to hold the attention of your audience. To do so it is important to have a clear storyline in your presentation. Preparation is key to develop the correct structure that best suits the objective of your presentation.
One of the structures for your presentation that you may want to use is the so called What?-Why?-How? structure. During your presentation you will basically address the what, why and how question (in this order).
What?
Start explaining with what the problem or situation is.
Why?
Second, explain why this is a problem and why this is important to resolve.
How?
Lastly explain how the problem or situation can be resolved and how your audience can benefit from this. Make sure that you will address how it will impact your audience. Try to make it personal.
If your audience doesn’t understand how this will be impactful for them, they may not care and stop listening to you.
There are different structures to be used for different purposes. Choose the best structure for your presentation. Consider the objective of your presentation as the main driver for selecting a structure that will work best.
