Create an introduction card

Is somebody else going to introduce you for your presentation? You want to have a good start, so you need to ensure that the introduction is also supporting your presentation. There are different things that you can do to ensure you will get a good introduction. One of the things that you can do is bring an “introduction card” for the person that will introduce you.

On the introduction card you can put some important aspects that will support the person that needs to introduce you. For example:

• Your name, title, role
• The correct pronunciation of your (phonetic spelling)
• Credentials
• Topic of your presentation
• Reason of the presentation
• Why it is important to listen to your presentation

The card should contain bullet points only and not a lot of text as it is not the objective that the person who will introduce you will read the text on the card. It should be a thick paper card and the text on it should be easy to read (easy to read font and not too small font size). Giving such an “introduction card” to the person who will introduce you will support your presentation from the start and avoid bad surprises. More tips and tricks in regards to this can be found in the book that is part of the Public Speaking Kit.
