Use of quotes during your presentation

Using an interesting quote can raise the quality of your presentation. Quotes will make people think, can put things in perspective and add emotions or a concise view to your presentation. A quote can for example add a bit of fun or a new twist / insight to your presentation. If you use a quote from a famous person it may also add authority to your presentation (this famous person is just thinking like you / was also interested in the topic that you are speaking about). The quote obviously needs to be relevant for your presentation and it shouldn’t be too lengthy of difficult to understand as you don’t want to lose your audience. Remember the quote to get it right.

You may also show the quote on a slide as part of your presentation slide deck. Use a large contrasting font to ensure your audience can read it. For added impact you may consider asking your audience to read the following quote and then you show the slide with the quote. This will add some interesting dynamics to your presentation. It creates a moment of silence as instead of you saying the quote, the members of your audience have to read it themselves. It makes your audience to actively participate in your presentation and ‘hear’ the quote from themselves when they read it. This is impactful and you can then talk about the quote and make the link with your presentation.
